As per the prescribed norms library committee has been constituted as under. Books are selected by teachers on the recommendation of student and teachers and purchased by the following committee members.

Sant Teja Singh Library

 

To commemorate the memory of renowned Sikh scholar and first Principal of the college. “Sant Teja Singh” the library of GGNKC is named as “SANT TEJA SINGH LIBRARY”. Library is the heart of an institution and our library is situated in the mid of the beautiful campus. It is a fully computerized library following library management software. This Library has got membership with DELNET & INFLIBNET. To check the availability of books, facility of WEB OPAC is also there for its readers. The library is having collection of 65443 books on various subjects. Book Bank facility is available for its readers. To inculcate the reading habits among students library subscribes 47 Journals & Magazines and 22 newspapers. To impart moral, religious and spiritual values library also posses rich collection of books related to Sikh History & culture.

Library at a Glance

  • In Ludhiana, this library was started with just 2178 books brought from Gujranwala (Pakistan). Now we can boast of more than 58,000 books in our library.
  • There are 546 reference books in various fields
  • 96 Encyclopedias are in stock. For e.g.(Encyclopedia Americana, Encyclopedia Britannica, Encyclopedia of Sikhism.Library also posses a encyclopedia of 60 Vols. Great Books set.
  • 450 Dictionaries (A 12 volume set of Oxford English Dictionary.)
  • Sikh Study Section
    This section comprises books related to Sikh religion so, students can get familiar with Sikh religion. This section is so enriched and well provider that research scholars from out station visit this library to consult the books. This section has been established with the guidance of Prof. P.S. Kapur (Honorable President Managing Committee, a famous Sikh Scholar & Historian).

  • The Library has been subscribing 20 newspapers including all major dailies. More than 12 journals and 33 magazines are subscribed to cater needs of students

  • E-resources :Library is attached to N-list a project of U.G.C under HRD. which provides access to more than 6000 journals and 97000 no. of e-books. Library has also joined DELNET for inter library loan services.

The college library is accessible to students 9:00 AM-4:00 PM

Sant Teja Singh Library is a member of INFLIBNET. It helps readers to access 6000+ e-journals and 01, 99,500+ e-books on N-list by INFLIBNET.

Delnet

Sant Teja Singh Library is a member of DELNET (Developing Library Network). The DELNET facility helps the faculty and researchers to procure those books, articles and documents from other educational institutions through DELNET which are not available in our library.

Eminent Author’s Section

To inculcate the reading habit among students sections of famous authors like Khushwant Singh, Bhai Veer Singh, Amrita Pritam etc. so that students can see & know about eminent authors in literature. It has really increased the number of books issued daily.
Even special sections of books donated by Dr.S.P. Singh (President GKEC, former V.C. GNDU & well known personality in the field of Punjabi literature) , Prof P.S. Kapur (Member mgt GKEC) a well known historian, Principal A.S. Bhalla , Prof Pritpal singh (well known Punjabi writer) , Prof Gurbhajan Singh Gill (eminent Punjabi poet) are there in a library . books donated by them have enriched our library’s collections in Sikh history, Punjabi & Philosophy

Reference Section

Library is having a very rich collection of Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, and Yearbooks etc in library, which are often used in by the students. Even students are given reference service & guided by librarian to how to use the reference book. Year books are added every year to update the library.

Working of Library

The Library is fully automated. All library operations such as housekeeping , bibliographical details, circulation of books. All the books have been bar coded to provide easy access and retrieval.

OPAC (online public access catalogue)

The Library provides OPAC facility with its link available on the college website. Readers can access WEB OPAC for on their personal computers/mobiles with internet from anywhere in the world to search books and reserve them.
