PG Department of Punjabi

About the Department

The Punjabi Department has a rich tradition. In 1953, after the reconstruction of the college in Ludhiana, the industrial city of Punjab, the Punjabi department was established and in 1987 the post graduate course was introduced. Many famous scholars worked as teachers in this department. Many of these learned teachers gained fame in the field of research and worked as professors and other positions in various reputed universities of Punjab. The students of Punjabi Department have earned fame in literature and society in different areas of the country and abroad.

The great scholar of Sikh Panth Prof. Sahib Singh, famous critic Dr. Garcharan Singh, Giani Lal Singh Gujranwala, Prof. Avtar Singh Dhodi, Dr. S. P. Singh, famous migrant writer Navtej Bharti, Dr. Joginder Singh Chhabra, Dr. Garmohan Singh Ahluwalia, Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Dr. Manjit Singh Komal, Prof. Sarabjit Singh, Dr. Amrit Rishma, Dr. Bhupinder Singh and Dr. Munish have been proud teachers of Punjabi department. These days Prof. Sharanjit Kaur (Head Punjabi Department), Prof. Harpreet Singh Dua, Dr. Gurpreet Singh and Dr. Tejinder Kaur are serving in the department.
